Hi! I’m Mairéad, the creator and developer at Element 8
I hold a B.Sc in Biochemistry and worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland and abroad for many years. I currently work in the education sector and though I’m passionate about the Sciences and the pursuit of knowledge in general, my main interests are health, nutrition and the conservation of our earth.
I am now on the path of developing a premium skincare range made with effective active ingredients that have proven results in improving skin health, condition and appearance while at the same time being gentle and nourishing for your skin. This is a unique niche in Ireland and around the world in the cosmetics industry.
How Element 8 Started
An obsession with ingredients in skincare products really truly began when I was pregnant for the first time. I became more health conscious like I think many do and started to pay more attention to what I was rubbing on my body.
Then when my children were born all three suffered from irritated skin, some to a greater degree than others, and I found that hard to manage. It was disappointing that products that claimed to be gentle or kind to skin weren’t always that. This led me to delve a little deeper into my own cosmetics products which made me think ‘I want something different’.
There always seemed to be a compromise with products on the market – too small a number of active ingredients, questionable ingredients in the last 5% of the product or the cost of it.
So this has led me into the exciting world of formulations and product creation and after many years work Element 8 has been born. The reason Element 8 was chosen as the name of the brand? You can read here in my blog
Encouragement and positive feedback has led me to the position I find myself in today; fully committed to creating and delivering premium, effective, skincare products that are suitable for sensitive skin and that fulfil my own high standards and requirements. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my family and friends so a big thanks to you all for your support so far. xx

We treat and respect all skin as sensitive skin. We value health and well-being and will contribute positively to your self-esteem and self-confidence by looking after the largest organ in your body and your primary defense system, your skin. We will not contribute to the bank of harmful chemicals that each of us are in contact with on a daily basis.

Vegan Friendly & Cruelty Free
All of our products are vegan friendly and we do not carry out any animal testing.
Environment
We aim to carry out our practices in a sustainable manner with as little impact on the environment as possible. We have chosen glass rather than plastic for our packaging containers as they can be rinsed and recycled and we also do not have to worry about leaching of chemicals such as BPA into our products. We do not use an outer box for our products. We do not see the point when they will just end up in the bin. All of our bubble wrap is second hand; we have never bought any. Instead we just re-use what comes with deliveries.
